Let's play catch up

Oh hello there.  Long time no blog.  Seriously, it's been 11 months.  How have you been?  I've been alright, I suppose.  Just working a lot.  The days seem to run together... kinda like Stan's here:

But my breaks in monotony come from vacations rather than Coronas.  (slightly more expensive than a six-pack... but exponentially more fun!)
And it turns out I do have a couple of things to share from these past 11 months.  Let's start from the beginning, shall we?  Shortly after our super fun trip to Mexico, it was time to fly up to North Carolina for my big brother's wedding!!
I lucked out and got to take a few pics.  :)  They are really cute and I am so thrilled to have a new sister-in-law.  The Walters fam is a rather 'male-heavy' clan... and Lisa is a wonderful addition that will help us girls tilt the scale a bit.

And she has an identical twin sister.  How fun is that?!

Bobby impressed everyone with his photography skills by nailing this shot.
That's right.  He's not only handsome... he's good with a DSLR.  swoon.

Skip ahead a few months...
My little girl turned two!!  Don't you just want to kiss that face?

It still amazes me that I was once a person saying "I don't really want a dog".  I had never had one before, you see.  But I really feel like she opened up a part of my heart that I had never used before.  Who else could throw up on my favorite rug and have me more concerned about her belly ache than the mess she just made?  I assure you friends... the list is short.
What else, what else.  Oh, our 2 year anniversary of course!
In addition to the sheer madness of never owning a dog, I had also never been to Washington DC.  A trip you're basically predestined at birth to take once you reach the 5th grade (so long as you have served your extremely important role as a member of the Safety Patrol).  Bright orange sash, I still mourn the fact that we never had our time together.  But I'm getting side tracked.
My husband took me to our nation's capital so 1. I could finally see for myself all of the historic glory and 2. because I was honestly starting to fear that America might disown me one day if I never made the pilgrimage.
And we had SO MUCH FUN!

Have you ever been on a Segway?  Bobby was hesitant at first because it's one of the nerdiest looking things you can do.  But it turned out to be our most favorite part of the trip, I think.  We used City Segway Tours and they were great!

The entire city... state... what on earth do you call it?!... district? was so beautiful and picturesque.
Plus, I got to put on my planner-on-crack hat and schedule our days basically down to the minute.  A true treat since in real life Bobby likes to have a little downtime (which is my polite way of saying he plays a lot of Call of Duty).  ;)
So by the end of our 5 day vacation we were exhausted but oh so fulfilled.
There are a few more Duffin adventures to speak of, but frankly after my 11 month blog hiatus I think I may have reached my limit for today.  So let's meet back here 7 million years from now and we'll dive back in!

Mexico!

In May, Bobby and I joined some friends on an incredible trip to Chacala Mexico.  We ate the most delicious, authentic Mexican cuisine, spent countless hours in the sun, and met some really fun people.

Some of the highlights:
Bobby's mohowk
Me wiping the floor with these boys during our beer pong tournament
Finding a scorpion in the bathroom
Thwarting Bobby's plan to eat aforementioned scorpion
The tortas stand.  We need tortas in America.  period. the end.

Our first anniversary

Our anniversary weekend was such an unbelievable treat.  We stayed at the Boca Resort again (like we did the night of our wedding), had some delicious meals (Chops Lobster Bar, anyone?), and re-lived our entire wedding day by watching our super hilarious wedding video.
I seriously love this boy more and more every single day.

Remember this pic?

Well here we are... one year later  : )
And we had the great idea that we'd go skydiving on our anniversary.  So we made the plans, drove all the way to Miami with so much anticipation... only to get turned away as soon as we arrived due to mechanical issues with the plane.

But we still got to enjoy the top tier of our wedding cake.
It looked just as beautiful as it did last year.
The following week we made the trek back down to Miami... got suited up... and finally got to jump out of a plane!

I love you Mr. Duffin!  And I am so proud and pleased to be your Mrs.

Time flies when you're married to your best friend

I can't even believe we're almost at our first anniversary!  I still remember every moment of our wedding day like it was last week.  This year has brought ups and downs (like every other relationship on the planet) but I can honestly say that the words from our wedding song still hold true...

"I love you more today than yesterday.  But not as much as tomorrow"

For our anniversary we are planning on revisiting some of the things we did on our wedding day... including digging back into our wedding cake (which has been in our freezer for a year).  I'm hoping that all of the precautions I took to lock in the freshness were successful.  But it will be a win either way, because I'll finally get all that freezer space back.  : )

Jacob is 4

We have the cutest nephew on the planet... and on Saturday we went to his birthday party and helped him celebrate turning 4 years old.

Uncle Bobby couldn't wait to show him his gift (mainly because HE wanted to play with it)

As always... they had some fun in the pool

Meanwhile, Rox and I showed off our fresh ink

Bouncehouse, pinata, exotic animals and of course, birthday cake.  What more could a 4 year old want?

Rox snapped these next two of Aunt Niecy being silly

And of course, everytime I see these two together I get excited for the day when Bobby and I have some cuties of our own.

Little Lia is not so little anymore

When we first got our baby girl on January 23rd, she was about 10 lbs and she loved to hide under the couch.

Now that she's almost 11 months old, she weighs in at 42 lbs and couldn't fit under the couch if she tried.  She doesn't seem to mind though.  I think she found a spot she likes even better.
